the red wellies

From the mountains of North Carolina, this trio of twin fiddles and bouzouki are a force to be reckoned with. Straight pure Irish spirit bottled in North Carolina....played as well as you might find in Galway, Cork or Dublin. –Alex Monaghan, Folkworld Magazine.

Their music is in a league with the very best of Irish traditional music.–Randal Bays

...powerful debut recording....there is a palpable sense of enjoyment of the music throughout this recording and quite a potent ‘live feel’ to the album that makes one want to listen to this recording over and over again.  A cracking debut. –Edel Mc Laughlin, Irish Music Magazine

...a sizzling debut –Siobhan Long, The Irish Times

After playing together at sessions and house parties for years, The Red Wellies created their debut recording: "The Red Wellies" in 2008. Capturing a sound of true traditional Irish music, it received rave reviews in Ireland as well as the States. You can hear their music and read reviews at: www.myspace.com/ redwelliesirish

Fiddler, Claudine “Beanie” Odell comes from a large musical family and has been passionate about Irish music since childhood. Beanie has been instrumental in creating a thriving Irish music scene in Asheville, NC, where she is a much sought after teacher of Irish fiddle.

Duncan Wickel, started playing the violin at the age of three (he called it a “biolin”) and at the age of six began asking his Aunt Beanie for Irish tunes. He went on to study classical music and presently studies jazz violin at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. He has toured with John Doyle, Cathie Ryan and Celtic Legends.

Vincent Fogarty on the ten string bouzouki, is a native of Tipperary. He spent most of his formative musical years in County Clare, an area rich in musical tradition where he became a sought after accompanist and played with many greats like Christy Barry, Terry Bingham and Kevin Griffin.
